No more cribs...

Well it has been a great 8 1/2 year run cribs.... I remember the day we bought you!  I was only a few months pregnant.  We brought you to our house on Xenwood.  Put you together and had Benzo sit in you for pictures!!!  You moved with us to Browndale and then to Jennings Cove.  Benzo, Peyton, Greyson, Reed and Gabe all enjoyed fun times in you!!!  WOW!  It has been a great run.  I am now officially a Mom of 4 BIG KIDS!  No more babies :(  Thanks for all the memories!

Mini Michael Jordan aka Mini Jeff Uelmen

Seeing Gabe in Grey's Michael Jordan Flip Flops and Jeff's Michael Jordan hat is fun but when he wants to wear Jeff's Michael Jordan outfit from when he was Gabe and Grey's age, that makes me just sit back and smile.

It is scary to think but I remember Jeff wearing that outfit and seeing pictures of him in it.  And now, my kids are wearing it!!

There is NOTHING better than kids!!!!

I'm Elmo and I know it!

Why is everyone so into LMFAO's song?  I am trying to teach Peyton and Greyson that saying anything like...."I'm pretty and I know it"  "I'm smart and I know it" "I'm athletic and I know it" isn't something that I would ever hope to hear my children say.... but for some reason, this song is what ALL the kids want to sing.... so I found this on you tube and this is what they can listen to when they want to dance and sing!  Plus the twins love it!

Shaving Cream Party

A MUST DO FOR EVERYONE IN THE SUMMER!

Invite your friends over and have them each bring a few bottles of shaving cream.  (Hint:  Most dollar stores sell Shaving Cream!!)  Let the kids go at it in the yard and after make everyone rinse off in the hose.  Creates a fun mess but pretty easy clean up!

Making a Lava Lamp

We did this for Greyson's Valentine's Day party.  Of all the class parties I have been part of, this was the BIGGEST HIT!!  We continue to use this at home.... showing friends, grandparents and siblings!  A must for all kids!!!

Make Your Own Bubbling Lava Lamp

Learn how to make a wave bottle.

Learn how to make a wave bottle using oil and water and a secret ingredient that makes the whole thing fizz, bubble, and erupt.
  1. Fill the bottle 3/4 full with vegetable oil.
  2. Fill the rest of the bottle with water (almost to the top but not overflowing).
  3. Add about 10 drops of food coloring. Be sure to make the water fairly dark in color. Notice that the food coloring only colors the water and not the oil. Hmmm...
  4. Divide the Alka-Seltzer tablet into 8 pieces.
  5. Drop one of the tiny pieces of Alka-Seltzer into the oil and water mixture. Watch what happens. When the bubbling stops, add another chunk of Alka-Seltzer. It’s just like a lava lamp!
  6. When you have used up all of the Alka-Seltzer and the bubbling has completely stopped, screw on the soda bottle cap. Tip the bottle back and forth and watch the wave appear. The tiny droplets of liquid join together to make one big lava-like blob.
How does it work?
First of all, you confirmed what you already knew... oil and water do not mix. The molecules of water do not like to mix with the molecules of oil. Even if you try to shake up the bottle, the oil breaks up into small little drops, but the oil doesn’t mix with the water. Also, food coloring only mixes with water. It does not color the oil.

When you pour the water into the bottle with the oil, the water sinks to the bottom and the oil floats to the top. This is the same as when oil from a ship spills in the ocean. The oil floats on top of the water. Oil floats on the surface because water is heavier than oil. Scientists say that the water is more dense than the oil.
Here’s the surprising part... The Alka-Seltzer tablet reacts with the water to make tiny bubbles of carbon dioxide gas. These bubbles attach themselves to the blobs of colored water and cause them to float to the surface. When the bubbles pop, the color blobs sink back to the bottom of the bottle. Now that’s a burst of color! Your own homemade lava lamp... groovy baby!

A little about me...

I guess for everyone who doesn't know me, I should post a little about me.  To put it simple, I am a MOTHER!!  A MOTHER of 4 amazing kids that I LOVE to spend all my time with.  I married my hugh school sweetheart and he wanted 3 kids, I wanted 4....  Well, we had one precious "monkey" daughter who is now 8!  Then we had an athletic and huge helping son who is 6.  We got pregnant in 2008 with TWINS!!!  I WON our debate without even a fight!!  Now we have two amazing 2 1/2 year old boys!!  Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would have twins but boy do I love it!!!  People ask me if I am done having kids.... My response, if I could have another set of twins I would do it in a heartbeat!!  For now, I will just LOVE snuggling with all my little nieces and nephews!!!

Why we are doing this....

As Peyton and I sit home with the twinkies as Jeff and Greyson are at Greyson's first MN Timberwolves game watching Rubio play, Peyton suggested that we start a blog.....  I had never thought to start a blog but I liked Peyton's idea.  We sat down and started thinking about what we were going to "blog" about....  The list kept getting longer.

We are going to talk about Things to do in MN: Winter, Summer, Spring and Fall.

I get probably 10-20 emails daily with local "deals" for things to do in MN.  Our favorites: we will post here!!!

Peyton, Greyson and I have become huge fans of Pinterest so we will use this site to post our favorites.

Food: Tonight, Peyton wanted to make Fruit Loop Balls so I told her to look the recipe up on Pinterest.  It was NOT there.  She thinks we should post to Pinterest!

DISNEY - The "Happiest" place on Earth.  I will post my favorite places and things to do when there.  You can ask my husband, I am nuts when it comes to Disney!

Bucket Lists - My 4 kids and I do buckets for every season.  Our favorite to date: Shaving Cream Party!

Well, off to give my twinkies a bubble bath (Dad isn't home so we will do lots of bubbles!)
